Dear Mr. Lachman:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop FILM 110B (W 2014) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in ENGL 100B (W 2014). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in ENGL 100 will be changed to CR. The Academic Probation ruling of May 22, 2014 on your transcript will also be removed as a result of this decision as it no longer applies.

I would like to note that although you are no longer on academic probation, I do remain concerned about your academic progress. In comparing your grades from last year when you were not receiving academic accommodations for your ADHD to this past fall€™s grades in which you did receive academic accommodations, there does not appear to be a significant improvement. Please ensure that you continue to seek regular counselling throughout the year and monitor your progress very carefully throughout the term. If you feel that you are struggling in any of your courses or are in potential jeopardy of failing a course, to drop any course as needed within the academic deadline (February 27).

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
