Dear Jae Makitalo:

I was sorry to read of the health related challenges which impacted your studies during Winter term particularly. After carefully considering your appeal to drop BIOL 331, CISC 124 and CISC 220 (W 2019) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in MATH 110 (FW 2018/19). I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation. Your grade in MATH 110 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. An appeal based on the same circumstances may not be granted in the future. I encourage you to follow through with your plan to continue to seek support from your Physician this summer and to seek out the help available to you here at Queen€™s once you resume your studies. I further encourage you to register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to help you manage both your health and your academics. I strongly suggest that, going forward, you evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
