Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 5825
Decision Date: June 25, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: LILAN WU
Student Email: wu.l@queensu.ca
Course: MATH 110
Term: Fall/Winter
Year: 2018
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Lilian Wu,
After carefully considering your request drop MATH 110B (W 19) late after the deadline, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, students should register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to manage their academics. I would also recommend that you consider taking a reduced course load as well as reach out to other resources on campus that may help you with your future plans such as Career Services.
In the future, I am confident that you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please ensure you assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
