I am sorry to have read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to drop HIST 242, ECON 231 (F 2016) and ECON 222 (W 2017) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
Your documentation dated June 21, 2019 indicates that you have been receiving support services from Student Wellness Services over the past year but does not address the 2016/2017 timeline so I cannot, in good conscience, alter your transcript.
This is a disappointing decision I am sure Matthew, but let me remind you that if a student repeats a course, the low grade is excluded from their GPA and the higher grade is included in your GPA. I realize you have recently graduated but you can still repeat these courses if you wish by registering as a €post degree student€™. If you would like to do that, you must submit a Return to Studies Form which can be found at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/sites/default/files/return_to_studies.pdf
