Dear Katie Manley:

I was sorry to read of the sudden passing of your mother and I am sure that circumstance has been difficult to cope with. I have reviewed your appeal to change the grades you received in BIOL 316, BIOL 334, ENSC 301, ITLN 112 and PHGY 170 (W 2019) to Aegrotat standing and after careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information we received from your instructors, I have decided to grant your appeal for Aegrotat standing in BIOL 316, ITLN 112, ENSC 301 and PHGY 170. Since you have not completed 60 of the course work in BIOL 334, I cannot grant you Aegrotat standing in that course, but based on the input we have received from the instructor, I will grant you Credit standing in BIOL 334.

The instructors have submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed as follows:

BIOL 316 will appear on your transcript with a grade of A+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

ITLN 112 will appear on your transcript with a grade of B+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

ENSC 301 will appear on your transcript with a grade of A along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

PHGY 170 will appear on your transcript with a grade of A along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

BIOL 334 will appear on your transcript with a CR noted grade.

I encourage you to continue to seek support from Student Wellness Services and your QSAS Advisor to help you manage your health as well as your Academic Advisor who can help you manage your course load. I would also suggest that you evaluate the impact of your circumstances on your studies in the coming term prior to week 8 of term and to drop courses if necessary at that time.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I do wish you well in your continued success with your degree progression and am so very sorry for your loss.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
