Dear Ethan Bento:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 110 (FW 2018/19) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in HIST 124 (FW 2018/19). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in HIST 124 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your health care professionals and strongly suggest that you register with QSAS who can help provide accommodations to manage both your health and academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and dropping courses which are affected by your extenuating circumstances.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
