Dear Laura Radford:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in BIOL 102 (F 2016), BIOL 103 (W 2017) and MATH 121 (FW 2018-19). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request for Credit in BIOL 102 and BIOL 103 based on your extenuating circumstances and the documentation provided which supports the 2016 and 2017 timeline. Your grade in these courses will appear as CR on your transcript.
2. To deny your request to receive Credit in MATH 121. Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower.€ Credit standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student€™s control. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
The documentation submitted indicates that you were accommodated in November 2018 to reweight your assignments in this course. In addition to that accommodation, the letter from Tess Grant show you were dealing with a mild disability with an impairment for 2 €“ 4 weeks which means that you had time to accurately assess your progress in this course by the March 1st drop date.
Let me remind you of our repeat policy Laura, whereby if you repeat a course and earn a higher grade, the higher grade will be included in your GPA and the lower grade will be excluded from your GPA.
