Dear Arthur Arnold:
I was sorry to read in your appeal letter that you suffered a concussion during the latter part of Winter term. No doubt having experienced severe symptoms, you struggled in your courses. After careful consideration of your letter of appeal seeking Aegrotat standing in ECON 110 and POLS 110 (FW 2018/19) and the documentation you submitted, as well as the information supplied by the instructors about your performance in these course, I have decided to grant your appeal as follows:
POLS 110 (FW 2018/19) will appear on your transcript with a grade of B- along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
ECON 110 (FW 2018/19) will be dropped and ECON 111 will be added (F 2018). ECON 111 will appear on your transcript with a grade of B along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€. ECON 112 will not be added since the information we received from the instructor advised that the learning outcomes for the macroeconomics portion of the course have been met.
If you would like to complete the course requirements for ECON 112, it may still be possible for you to arrange to write the exam in September in this course. If you wish to pursue that, please contact Dr. Ian Cromb to make the deferred exam arrangements and send an email to asc.appeals@queensu.ca so I can arrange to add you into ECON 112 with a current grade of IN.
Going forward, I would strongly suggest that you monitor both your health and academics and evaluate your progress in your courses by the week 8 drop deadline. If the symptoms of your concussion persist I also suggest that you register with QSAS who may be able to assist you with appropriate accommodations in your courses.
I am pleased to see that you are planning to complete PSYC 100 and POLS 101 and suggest that you reach out to these departments to confirm the exam deferred dates in early September.
Best of luck in your continued recovery.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson Ph.D.
