Dear Joshua Kohl:
I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you experienced during the past year and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop HIST 121 (FW 2018/19) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PHIL 115 (FW 2018-19). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in PHIL 115 will appear on your transcript as CR.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and do hope that the surgery you will have had recently will bring you relief with regards to your health. Going forward, a good practice for all students, is to pause during week 7 of the term and assess performance in courses. If you have fallen behind in course work or are not achieving the results that you hope for, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in the upcoming year.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
