Dear Jessie Forbes:

I was sorry to read of the passing of your mother and certainly understand that your courses would have been impacted by those circumstances. I have reviewed your appeal to drop POLS 250 (FW 2017/18), receive Credit standing in ECON 110 (FW 2017/18), as well as change the grade you received in PHIL 250 (FW 2017/18) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructors about the circumstances surrounding these courses, I have decided to grant your appeal.

The instructor of PHIL 250 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as B along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€. Your grade in ECON 110 will appear on your transcript as CR.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I encourage you to continue to meet with your psychotherapist and doctor who can continue to help you through this difficult period.

Let me also point you to the Academic Consideration web site which supports students by offering short term consideration relief to students if required. https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergrad-students/academic-consideration-for-students

Yours sincerely,
