I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you have experienced since your accident in 2017 and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHIL 382 and RELS 252 (W 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. An appeal based on the same circumstances may not be granted in the future. I encourage you to register with QSAS if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor to manage both your health and academics.
I see that you are currently registered in an excessive number of courses during the Winter term 2020 and I am concerned about that course load. You may be better to carrying a lighter course load and register for summer term courses to work towards the completion of your degree requirements. I strongly suggest that you evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of term. If you have fallen behind in your course work, or if your health is impacting your studies, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all university students at Queen's.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
