Year: 2019

Dear Calli Lung:
I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you experienced last year and I have carefully reviewed your appeal to drop PHIL 271 (W 2019) after the drop date as well as change the grade you received in PHIL 203 (W 2019) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor regarding the learning outcomes you achieved PHIL 203, I have decided to grant your appeal.
The instructor of PHIL 203 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as a B+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
I encourage you to continue to consult with your psychologist and to consider reaching out to a counsellor here at Queen€™s if your health care professional supports that option. The Student Counselling Services office is located in Mitchell Hall and appointments are available to students free of charge. You may also want to register with QSAS who can help support both your health and your academics. Going forward, I suggest you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term, and if you have fallen behind or are feeling unwell, you should drop courses by week 8 of the term. The drop dates have been designed to ensure equitable treatment for all students at Queen's.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
