Dear Jake Giller:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 242 and POLS 264 (W 2019) and receive an extension of your incomplete grade in POLS 212 (W 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1) To grant your request to drop POLS 242 and POLS 264 based on the circumstances outlined and your documentation.

2) To deny your request to extend the Incomplete grade in POLS 212. Incomplete grades are designed for students who may have only one or two outstanding assignments in a course. The information we have received from the instructor notes that you have completed very few of the course elements to date. I am however will to drop this course late. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will amend that grade.

I am pleased to see that you are now registered with QSAS who can help with accommodations to support both your health and your academics. I strongly encourage you to pause during week 7 of the term and review your progress in your courses. If you have fallen behind in your course work, you should consider dropping courses by the week 8 drop deadline. That date is designed to provide students with the opportunity to drop courses if extenuating circumstances are affecting their coursework. The appeals process is not designed to manage ongoing health or life conditions but is meant to assist students who experience extenuating circumstances after the drop deadline date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
