Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 6124
Decision Date: September 23, 2019

Student Email: 14jim@queensu.ca
Dear Jessica Mackay:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 282 (W 2017) and CHEM 282 (S 2017) as well as receive Credit standing in BCHM 218, MICR 221 (W 2017) and PHGY 214 (FW 2016-17). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in BCHM 218, MICR 221 and PHGY 214 will appear on your transcript as CR.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the various challenges you experienced during the 2016/17 academic year. I am sure it was a difficult period for you and your family. I am also pleased to see the improvement you have achieved in your grades since that difficult year, which is a clear demonstration to me that your circumstances have been addressed. Let me remind you that it is good practice for all students to pause during week 7 of the term and evaluate their progress in their courses at that time. If you have fallen behind in course work or your life circumstances are impacting your studies, you should drop courses by week 8 of term.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
