Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 6156
Decision Date: September 25, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Natasha Leung
Student Email: 14nl2@queensu.ca
Course: PSYC 501
Term: Fall/Winter
Year: 2017
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Natasha Leung:
I was sad to have read in your letter of appeal that a close family member passed away in April 2017 and I am very sorry for your loss. No doubt that has been difficult for you and your family. Although you were granted additional time to fulfil the course requirements, I do realize that the loss of a family member compounded with your health related challenges would have made it difficult to complete this course and I will grant your appeal to drop PSYC 501 (FW 2017/2018) past the academic deadline based on that circumstance.
I am pleased to see that you continue to work with your physician and was impressed by her comment that your €œresilience is remarkable€. How encouraging as you continue to recover from this difficult loss.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
