Dear Lucas Rooyakkers:

I was sorry to read about the difficulties you experienced during the summer term 2019 and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MUSC 171 and CISC 124 (S 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I encourage you to continue to work with your counsellor and consider registering with QSAS if ongoing accommodations are required. A QSAS Advisor can help support both your health and academics. Going forward, you should pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your courses this term.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
