Dear John Wasylenko:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ANAT 101 (W 2016); HLTH 200, PSYC 241 (F 2018) and PSYC 398, PSYC 204, PSYC 370 (W 2019) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 205, PSYC 251 (F 2018) and PSYC 399 (W 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1) To deny your request to drop ANAT 101 (W 2016). The circumstances outlined and documented do not support that request. Finding a course difficult is not grounds for an appeal. Let me remind you however of the repeat policy. If you repeat a course, the lower grade will be excluded from your GPA and your higher grade will be included in your GPA.

2) To grant your request to drop HLTH 200, PSYC 241 (F 2018) and PSYC 398, PSYC 204, PSYC 370 (W 2019) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 205, PSYC 251 (F 2018) and PSYC 399 (W 2019). Your grades in PSYC 205, PSYC 251 and PSYC 399 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the difficulties you outlined but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, upon your return to Queen€™s, I would encourage you to work with a Counsellor and consider registering with QSAS who can help you manage both your health and academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
