Dear Jacob Hinchberger:

I was sorry to read that you have been dealing with a difficult medical condition during the past year. After carefully considering your appeal to drop MATH 121 (FW 2018/19) and BIOL 243 (W 2019) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and was pleased to see that you are taking time away from your studies to continue with your treatment and work towards a successful return to your studies when you are feeling better. Upon your return, I encourage you to register with QSAS who can assist you with accommodations to aid you with both your health and academics. In the future, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
