Course: ASTR 102
Term: Summer
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Maya Steckly:

I was sorry to read of your health condition and the related challenges during the summer term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ASTR 102 (S 2019) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I am pleased to see that you are now connected with a local counsellor and are building your support network here at Queen€™s. I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please ensure you assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck with your studies this term.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
