Student Name: Emma O'Hare

Course: KNPE 251
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Emma O€™Hare:

I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you have been dealing with this term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop KNPE 251 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised some leniency in this decision since your instructor had suggested that you drop the course by the deadline date, but I do understand that you had hoped to catch up in the course work once you were feeling better. Going forward, I suggest that you carefully evaluate your progress in courses during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your studies and are completing your assignments on time. If not, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing conditions.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
