Student Name: Olivia Baker
Student Email: 17oalb@queensu.ca
Course: LAW 201
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Olivia Baker:
I was sorry to read about the difficulties you are experiencing this term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop LAW 201 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Olivia, I encourage you to consider meeting with a counsellor who may be able to help you manage the circumstances that you are dealing with. The Student Wellness Services office is located in Mitchell Hall and you may find it beneficial to discuss your current challenges and seek out support. Going forward, you should pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in the balance of your courses this term.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
