Dear Hannah Reich:

I was sorry to read that you have been struggling in your courses this term and after carefully considering your appeal to drop BIOL 102 (F 2019) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation. Please note MATH 121 is a full year course which you have dropped. The A portion of that course will remain on your transcript.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances but in the future, I strongly encourage you to carefully evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term as the appeals process is not meant to manage a chronic illness. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students. I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
