Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 6369
Decision Date: December 19, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Julia Kondor
Student Email: 16jck3@queensu.ca
Course: GNDS 335
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Max Kondor:
I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you had earlier this term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GNDS 335 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging that your illness persisted longer than you had anticipated and that you report that you did not receive Professor Tolmie€™s recommendation that you drop the course. Going forward, I suggest that you use you pause during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time. If not, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing conditions.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
