Dear Leah Haller-Watters:

I was sorry to read about the challenges you experienced last term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 214, CLST 333 and CLST 341 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging the variety of challenges you have faced. Going forward, I suggest that you continue to work you€™re your medical supports and upon your return to Queen€™s, you may want to consider registering with QSAS if ongoing accommodations are necessary. A QSAS Advisor can help support both your health and your academics. I further suggest that you pause during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time. If not, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing conditions.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck with your continued recovery.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
