Dear Yunhao Li:

I was sorry to read about the difficulties you have experienced since you began your studies at Queen€™s and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 101 and BIOL 102 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Yunhao, this is a lenient decision since you were advised previously to drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline if you were behind in courses or finding the material difficult. A future appeal based on similar circumstances will not be granted in the future. I encourage you to continue to work with a counsellor and consider registering with QSAS in the future if ongoing accommodations are required. A QSAS Advisor can help support both your health and academics. Let me remind you once again that you should pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am pleased to see that you are not registered in courses this term and hope that you take this time away from your studies to improve your health and wellbeing.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
