Dear William Dobell:

I have carefully considered your appeal to add MATH 126 (FW 2019/20) back after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.

William, you made a good academic decision when you dropped this course in November as you carefully assessed your progress in the course as well as your health and realized that juggling this course along with your health related challenges would be difficult. This is exactly what my recommendation would have been. In addition, the information we received from the instructor notes that adding this course at this time would not be in your best interest.

For your information, registration for our Summer term on-line courses begins on February 3rd. I would encourage you to review the course offerings during that upcoming term if you feel you would like to catch up in your degree progression. The on-line courses available can be found at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci_online/.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, information and deadlines can be found at www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€). Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the University Ombudsperson for information about student rights and responsibilities as well as guidance on policy and procedure (www.queensu.ca/ombuds).

If you wish to discuss course planning or have any questions regarding your academic goals, please contact our Faculty Office (613-533-2470) to set up an appointment with one of our Academic Advisors or to meet with one of our PASS (peer) Advisors.

I am pleased to read that your health is now stable but I would like to suggest that you consider registering with QSAS, if you have not done so already, as they can help you manage both your health and your academics with appropriate accommodations.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
