I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 102 (F 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I would like to note that I am granting this appeal solely on the basis of your aunt€™s diagnosis at the time of your exam in this course. You indicate in your appeal letter that as a first-year student you struggled to keep up with your course work and were feeling overwhelmed. However, this was not a factor in my decision. I expect that you will follow through on the academic plan you outlined as part of your appeal letter and seek help through the Learning Commons as well as through the Bounce Back Program. Please continue to monitor your academic progress carefully this term and if you feel that you are struggling to keep up with your work load to drop any courses as needed within the academic deadlines. The final day to drop a winter term course is Friday, February 27.
Any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
