Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Samuel Roe:

I was sorry to read of your health related challenges during the Fall term 2019 and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 421 and ECON 322 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the extenuating circumstances you have described but I need to warn you that any further appeals may not be granted due to the same circumstances. Instead, you should carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work or your health is impaired, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. I caution you to consider this advice carefully during this current winter term 2020 term since you are in a very heavy course load and are, I believe, also completing the requirements in MATH 339 (F 2019). Your Short-Term Academic Accommodation form indicates that your impairments are serious for a period of 4 €“ 8 weeks so if those impairments have continued throughout the term, you should drop courses by the February 28, 2020 drop date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
