Dear Alexandre Schumacher:

I was sorry to read that you have been struggling with health related challenges since your arrival at Queen€™s and after carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 101 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and due to the fact that you have actively sought out support to help you deal with your challenges. I was also pleased to see that you made a good academic decision and dropped your Winter term courses before the drop date deadline. I strongly suggest that you continue to pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. I encourage you to follow through with you plan for treatment and to work with your QSAS Advisor who can help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your continue recovery.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
