Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 6587
Decision Date: March 10, 2020
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Megan McLean
Student Email: 16mpm1@queensu.ca
Course: ENGL 271
Term: Winter
Year: 2020
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Megan McLean:
I was sorry to read that you have been struggling with health related challenges this semester and have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 271 (W 2020) past the academic deadline. I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as your acknowledgement that lightening your course load will provide you with the breathing room you need to focus on your other courses and your health. This is a good academic decision but going forward I suggest that you pause to evaluate your progress in your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline as outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page rather than wait to drop a course late.
Megan, if your health issues continue, I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS and work with a QSAS advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in your other courses this term.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
