Dear Alexandra Amendola:
I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you have faced this term and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grades you received in SOCY 276 and SOCY 336 (W 2020) to Aegrotat standing based on those circumstances. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information I have received from the instructors, I have decided to grant your appeal.
The instructor of SOCY 276 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed and your grade in that course will appear on your transcript as B+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
The instructor of SOCY 336 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed and your grade in that course will appear on your transcript as A- along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
I encourage you to continue to seek support from your health care professionals and suggest that you consider registering with QSAS when you resume your studies as they can help you manage both your health and academics. Going forward, a good practise for all students, is to pause and evaluate their progress in courses during week 7 of term and if a student€™s health or challenges are impacting their studies, they should ensure they drop courses prior to week 8 of term if necessary at that time.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I look forward to your return to Queen€™s in the Fall.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
