Dear Evan Hickey:

I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the various challenges you outlined and after carefully considering your appeal to drop COMM 200, GPHY 304, GPHY 336 (F 2018) and ANAT 100, GPHY 352, GPHY 362, GPHY 371 (W 2019) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on those circumstances as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and am pleased to see that you took some time away from your studies this year to focus on your health. I strongly encourage you to follow through with your plans for support which you outlined.

Going forward Evan, if you fall behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students. I also encourage you to consider registering with QSAS when you resume your studies, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
