I have carefully considered your appeal to add MATH 121 (S 2020) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under exceptional circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s ability to add a course within the deadline was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established in order to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, to evaluate their overall workload and to put in place any financial barriers that may prevent them from registering.
Luisa, in addition to that, your record indicates that adding a course late is not advisable since your transcript indicates significant challenges and I am not convinced that adding this course late is a good academic decision. I do realize you have submitted an appeal to request late Drops and Credit and/or Aegrotat standing in many courses but until that situation is reviewed fully, adding a course late is not wise.
For your information, registration for our Summer term on-line courses that begin in July is still an option and I would encourage you to review the course offerings during that upcoming term if you wish. The on-line courses available can be found at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci_online/.
