Dear Marco Tobio:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 221, CHEM 222 (F 2018) and MATH 112 (W 2019) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in CLST 205 (F 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in CLST 205 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but also due to the assistance you are now receiving from Student Wellness Services, your doctor and your family. However, I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to continue to work with your health care professionals, including your counsellor from QSAS, to manage both your health and academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and dropping courses which are affected by your extenuating circumstances.

Marco, I am also willing to Drop GPHY 102 (W 2019). Although you repeated that course and earned a very good mark, which is wonderful, I am willing to change the F grade to a DR so that your transcript is a bit cleaner. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca to advise of your agreement to change the grade in that course to DR.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
