Dear Rhys Adams:

I have read with interest your appeal requesting an extension on the COVID 19 remedies that were offered to students and I understand that you are seeking P grades in GPHY 227 and DEVS 351 (W 2020). In your letter of appeal you report that you missed the May 20th deadline as well as the June 10th deadline extension as you had not accessed your computer during that timeframe. After reviewing your appeal letter and the information we have received from our IT department, I have decided to deny your request.

I am certainly sympathetic to your situation and realize that this is a disappointing decision, however, the information we have received from our IT team indicates that you did open your emails and/or the newsletters that provided the deadline dates to request the P grades. Therefore I cannot, in good conscience, alter your transcript based on that circumstance.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, information and deadlines can be found at www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€). Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the University Ombudsperson for information about student rights and responsibilities as well as guidance on policy and procedure (www.queensu.ca/ombuds).

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
