Dear Tamara Beck:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal. After carefully considering your appeal to drop BCHM 218 and PHGY 215 (F 2019) as well as CLST 205 (S 2020) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and encourage you, going forward, to pause and evaluate the impact your health or life circumstances are having on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or are managing non-academic challenges that are impacting your studies, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and the appeal process is designed to assist students who have experienced challenges after the drop date.

Tamara, I encourage you to continue to work with your health care professionals and suggest you consider registering with QSAS, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
