Dear Aryaman Sharma:
I was sorry to read of the difficulties you experienced during Fall term of 2019 and want to offer my condolences for the loss of your uncle. I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in ANAT 100 and BIOL 102 (Fall 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower€. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
While your letter of appeal reports that your academic abilities were impacted during the Fall term, the information we received from your instructors shows that the grades received throughout the term are not significantly out of line with the final grade that you achieved in these courses. Also, I see that you had requested bereavement-related Academic Consideration in all of your Fall term classes during the time period of October 20 €“ 27 but it is unclear why you didn€™t make up all of the outstanding work later in the term. I understand that this is a disappointing decision Aryaman, but as you did not complete all of the work in ANAT 100 and BIOL 102, you are not eligible for Credit Standing in these courses.
