Dear Grace Chen:

I was sorry to read about the challenges you outlined in your appeal letter and I have carefully considered your request to drop ENGL 237 (S 2020). Based on the information presented and your documentation, I have decided to grant your request.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please ensure you assess your progress in your courses prior to the drop date deadlines. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop your course by that drop date deadline. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

I am pleased to see that you are connected with Student Wellness Services, and I encourage you to continue to work with your Counsellor as needed.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. g consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
