I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal of the passing of your grandmother and I am sorry for your loss. No doubt that has been difficult for you to deal with, as well as the fire that took place in your room. Based on those circumstances, I will grant your appeal to drop FREN 230 (F 2020) past the academic deadline based on that circumstance.

I encourage you to reach out to our Student Wellness Services office Maria if you need to discuss this difficult loss with someone who can offer you the support you may require. Their offices are located in Mitchell Hall and counselling is available remotely.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
