Dear Katherine Ram:

I was sorry to read that you have been struggling with health-related challenges during the current Fall term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 101 (F 2020) past the academic deadline and I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps that you have taken by connecting with both health care professionals and academic advising regarding your situation. I encourage you to register for QSAS upon your return to studies and continue to work with your QSAS advisor to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.

Going forward, I suggest that you evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
