Dear Shereen Anis:

I am sorry to have read about the heath challenges that impacted your Summer term classes and have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 101 and COGS 100 (Summer 2020) after the deadline and for Aegrotat Standing in BIOL 102 (Summer 2020). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.

As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond their control.

I acknowledge that you had connected with your family doctor during the Summer term and that your instructors had granted you with incomplete grades to allow you to complete the outstanding work in each class during the Fall term. However, the documentation that you provided do not indicate that your health issues would impact you beyond the Summer term exam period nor does it mention the Fall 2020 term at all and so I simply cannot grant this request.

I certainly empathize with your situation and understand that this is a disappointing decision but I want to remind you that your BIOL 102 instructor is willing to allow you to write the final exam this month. I would suggest that you contact Professor Ko to make the appropriate arrangements.
