Dear Talia:

I was sorry to read of the difficult circumstances you and your family experienced during the summer term 2020. After carefully considering your appeal to drop BCHM 218 (S 2020) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and I encourage you to continue to work with your health-care team. I was pleased to see that you have made some changes to your living situation so you could prioritize your studies and I am also happy to see that you will carefully consider whether registering for a summer term course this year is in your best interest. Going forward, I would suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses prior to the drop date deadlines and if you have fallen behind or are finding the course material difficult, you should drop course by the drop date deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
