Course: BIOL 330
Term: Fall
Year: 2020
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Fraser Moodey:
I was sorry to read that you were struggling with health-related challenges during the Fall semester and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 300 (F 2020) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in BIOL 339 and BIOL 330 (F 2020). I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation. Your grades in BIOL 339 and BIOL 330 will appear on your transcript as CR.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps you have taken by reaching out for support from Student Wellness Services. I would suggest that you discuss with your Counsellor the possibility of registering with QSAS so you can work with a QSAS advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.
Going forward, you should pause and evaluate your progress in your studies during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop courses by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in your continued degree progression.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
