I am sorry to read that you have been struggling with health-related challenges which made it difficult to manage this course along with challenges related to COVID19. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GNDS 340 (F 2020) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised some leniency in this decision Hailey since you were registered in six courses, which is more than the recommended five courses per term, and I suggest that going forward you carefully consider the volume of work required with such a heavy course load. I see you are registered once again in six courses and I should warn you that an appeal based on the same circumstances may not be granted again in the future since managing health-related challenges and such a heavy course load is not considered a good academic decision. Going forward I suggest that you carefully assess whether you are managing your studies along with your health-related challenges and if you are not able to manage your studies effectively, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after the drop date or whose problems become more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing or chronic challenges. In addition, I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS if you require ongoing accommodations due to your health concerns as they may be able to assist with arranging flexibile deadlines.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
