Dear Carly Gagne,

I am sorry to have read of your ongoing health issues and the impact that studying remotely has had on your Fall term classes. I have reviewed your appeal to drop HLTH 416 and PHIL 301 (Fall 2020) after the academic deadline, and I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the information that you presented in your appeal letter as well as the information supplied by your health care provider within your supporting documentation.

I see that you are currently enrolled in 6 classes for the Winter term and need to warn you that choosing to take more than the recommended number of units per term does not constitute sufficient grounds to appeal to retroactively drop a class after the deadline to drop. I acknowledge the smart academic decision that you made by reducing your course load prior to the Fall term Academic Deadline and am confident that you will consider doing the same in Winter term if you find that you are falling behind in your classes.

Going forward, I would suggest that you to register for QSAS (if you haven€™t done so already) so that you can work with an advisor to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
