I was sorry to read that you have were struggling in ASTR 101 (S 2018) and WRIT 225 (W 2019) and after carefully considering your appeal to drop these courses past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and documentation as well as your strong academic plan and your decision to utilize the many services available to assist you with your studies, including SASS, your Teaching Assistants, and your Instructors. Let me also encourage you to consider registering with QSAS, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges. Going forward, you should pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term, and if you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
