I was sorry to read of the difficult circumstances you outlined in your letter of appeal. Understandably you would have had difficulties staying focused on your courses so, after careful consideration of your appeal to drop CLST 102, ECON 255 (W 2019) and ECON 212, ECON 233 (S 2018) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request.

Given your circumstances, I am also willing to grant you Credit standing in FREN 118 (W 2018) as well. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition or circumstances. Instead, students should register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to manage their academics. I also encourage you to follow through with your plan to work with your therapist for continued support. Going forward, you should also pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
