Dear Robyn McMurdy:

I have carefully considered your appeal for Aegrotat Standing in DEVS 340 (Fall 2018), DEVS 392 (Winter 2019), and HIST 216 (Fall 2019) and to drop DEVS 300 (Winter 2019) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request to drop DEVS 300 (Winter 2019). Your grade in this course will be replaced with a €DR€™ notation on your transcript.

2. To deny your request to receive Aegrotat Standing in DEVS 340 (Fall 2018), DEVS 392 (Winter 2019) and HIST 216 (Fall 2019). Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)€ I acknowledge that you were impacted by a chronic health condition during the terms that you are appealing from and that you didn€™t begin a successful treatment plan until January of 2020 but your appeal fails to explain why you didn€™t complete the outstanding work in these courses during the subsequent terms through deferrals with your instructors or an Incomplete Grade. I can see from your transcript that you were able to complete some courses to high standards during the Fall 2018, Winter 2019, Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 terms and I do understand that your health issues are unpredictable however, with the absence of documentation from a professional that verifies that you were not able to complete the outstanding work in DEVS 340, DEVS 392 and HIST 216 during these subsequent terms, I am not able to grant your request for Aegrotat Standing at this time. I am however willing to allow you Credit Standing in these courses instead, as it is clear from the documentation that you supplied that your academic performance during the terms that you are appealing from was directly impacted by your health issues. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
