I have carefully considered your appeal for an Extension of an Incomplete Grade or Aegrotat Standing in POLS 261 (Fall 2019). After reviewing your file and the information that I received from your instructor, I have decided the following:
To deny your request for an Extension of an Incomplete in POLS 261 (Fall 2019) as your instructor will not accept the outstanding components of this course at this late time, nor will they facilitate a deferred final exam as too much time has passed since this course took place. Your instructor reports that they had allowed you until the end of the Winter 2020 term to complete the final essay (45 of your grade) and write the final exam (40 of your grade) for this course and that they didn€™t hear from you regarding this outstanding work past February of that year.
To deny your request for Aegrotat Standing in POLS 261 (Fall 2019) as the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you had only completed 11 of the work in this course and are therefore not eligible for this academic appeal option. Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)€.
I understand that this is a disappointing decision Sara, but I am willing to allow you to drop POLS 261 (Fall 2019) after the academic deadline based on the circumstances outlined and the documentation that you have provided. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
