Dear Youtong Fang:

Your request to apply for 12.0 units on an International Letter of Permission during the Summer 2021 term has been approved on behalf of the Associate Dean (Academics).

As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that €œnormally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen€™s.€ However, after reviewing your file, we will allow you to request 12.0 units of electives on an International Letter of Permission in addition to 6.0 units of Summer term courses at Queens to total 18.0 units. Please know that 18.0 units during the Summer term is a very heavy workload and taking more than the recommended number of classes in a term does not constitute sufficient grounds to appeal to retroactively drop a class after the deadline to drop.

You may now apply for an International Letter of Permission through the International Programs Office. We would strongly suggest that you remain closely connected with this office so that you can be made aware of potential disruptions to your international studies if they shall happen.

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the International Programs office upon completion of the courses. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

Finally, please be advised that a student can complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards their Honours degree program (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3).

We wish you well in your studies.

Yours sincerely,

Academic Appeals Office
On behalf of Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
